
Archbishop Joseph Bagobiri warned Muhammadu Buhari not to use EFCC and ICPC as personal vendetta tools.

“If you are fighting corruption for the sake of corruption, Nigerians understand it,” told Joseph Bagobiri, adding that “if we mistakenly give in to the temptation of using government apparatus like the EFCC, the ICPC, and their likes as instruments to scold, instruments of revenge and vendetta, sooner or later we will not be able to go on.”
Giving this warning in his independence speech, the archbishop said: “whatever polices we are going to carry out, they must have a human heart guiding them”.
He added that in his opinion the recent NASS actions didn’t add any good for the unity of Nigeria.

He blasted countries like South Africa, the US, Germany and Ireland for threatening traditional family values with adopting legislation on gay marriages. Bagobiri also called on Buhari not to follow the path of adopting Western values in part of their support of the same-sex marriages.
Three months ago the Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow politicians hijack the the control of activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for their selfish motives.
“If their motive of using the anti graft agency is to fight personality and not the corrupt people, then, you will destroy institutions and rubbish the whole thing. The war should not be partisan or be fought in the face of vendetta or act of vindictiveness,” Fayose warned.
Two months ago the Nigerian Labour Party ( LP) has called for caution in the planned move to probe Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, urging the federal government to be transparent in its anti-corruption crusade.
The National Secretary of the party, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, who made this statement, warned that it was imperative for the president not to embark on a personal vendetta.
Ahead of the much awaited ministerial list from President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate president Bukola Saraki has said there would no room for room for pettiness or politics of vendetta by senators when screening ministers.
