Nigerian international, Vincent Enyema, was
sent-off in the 69th minute in the French league after he was adjudged
to have fouled Giovanni Sio of Rennes yesterday September 19.
The incident immediately saw huge protest by the home fans, forcing referee Stephane Jochem to stop the game for more than two minutes.
The Rennes striker was put through to a one-on-one on goal and was at the verge of rounding Enyeama before he was felled.
The consequent penalty was however saved by second choice Paul-Georges Ntep, which ensured Lille avoided a home defeat. The match ended 1 – 1.
This would be Enyeama’s first dismissal and will automatically miss their next game away to Reims.
