El-Rufai Declared The State Of Emergency In Kaduna State

Speaking at the the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, governor Nasir El-Rufai declared the state of emergency.

El-Rufai said in his independence speech that education is freedom and declared the state of emergency in the education sector

Governor of Kaduna state Nasir El-Rufai declared the state of emergency in the education sector during his celebration speech at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna to mark Nigeria’s 55 th anniversary of independence.

El-Rufai told that quality education should be accessible to everyone. “Education is freedom from want and the provision of free basic education in decent schools, with skilled teachers,” told Kaduna state governor, promising that “this is one of the priorities this government will accomplish in its four-year term.”
“Today, we move to declare a state of emergency in education,” also told El-Rufai, adding that “we ask for your support as we begin to implement extraordinary measures in the education sector.”

El-Rufai informed the general public that the present state government has already made some considerable efforts in a past few months, planning training of teachers and school repairs.
He also said that the goals of improving schools’ infrastructure, providing educational facilities with new furniture and tools, and qualifying of teaching staff should be achieved within the next six weeks.

“We are determined that one legacy of the rebirth of our country will be the restoration of education as a tool to free our people from the fetters of ignorance,” concluded El-Rufai.
In commemoration of Nigeria’s 55th Independence Day anniversary, Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state, has also released nine prisoners serving various jail terms.
El-Rufai announced his decision during a colourful parade at the main bowl of Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
Addressing the crowd of people, the governor said:
“On this occasion, the Kaduna state government decided to extend mercy to prisoners. Pursuant to Section 212 of the Constitution, the prerogative of mercy was exercised in favour of 14 prisoners.“The government commuted the death sentences of five convicts, who will now serve prison time. “
Earlier Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai told that the authorities will no longer subsidise Hajj pilgrimage, saying healthcare and education in the state are more important than Hajj.
“Nigeria’s Constitution does not recognise any religion as a state religion. Accordingly we do not think it is appropriate, strictly interpreting the Constitution, that public funds should be used to advance any religious courses,” – told the press El Rufai.
