Pope Francis walked on American soil for the
first time this Tuesday, when he arrived in Washington from Cuba
starting his historic six-day tour across one of the most powerful and

The Pontiff was greeted by President Barack Obama, vice-president Joe
Biden and their families as well as cardinals, bishops, archbishops,
military honour guard, schoolchildren, politicians and huge crowds of
cheering believers.
For his first visit to the United States the 78-year-old Roman
Catholic leader is planning to visit Washington D.C., New York and
Philadelphia to address ecological, political, diplomatic and spiritual
issues.
