Jessica Simpson Says Marriage to Nick Lachey Was a “Money Mistake”

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey’s time in the spotlight was fading, that is until a little MTV reality show called Newlyweds cemented their celeb status. So it’s somewhat surprising that Jess, who is celebrating 10 years of success behind her billion dollar fashion empire, joked that her four-year marriage to Nick was one of her biggest financial flubs.
Ooh, burn. Or was it?
While appearing on the Closing Bell business program, the host asked Jessica to identify her biggest money mistake.
Simpson, now 35 and married to ex-footballer Eric Johnson, with whom she has two tow-headed tots, answered with a laugh, “The biggest money mistakes? I don’t know. For some reason, I thought of my first marriage!”
Look, even if Miss “Chicken of the Sea” had to shell out major loot cakes in alimony payments, he’s half the reason she got so crazy famous thanks to their show. She became a household name because of Newlyweds which, no doubt, accounts for the foundation of her current financial prosperity.  Just sayin’.
Jess, then famously a virgin, married Nick in 2002 and the relationship lasted until 2006. Fast forward to today and the two are no longer in touch, with Lachey, also now married with two children, saying, “We both moved on with our lives. It’s not animosity, it’s not friendship, it’s just kind of nothing.”
