Iggy Azalea Dropped by Her Mentor T.I. Because He’s Done Defending Her

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has made waves ever since hitting it big with her single “Fancy” — and not exactly in a good way. She’s feuded on Twitter with everyone from Britney Spears to Q-Tip and has been at the center of a lot of controversy for “allegedly appropriating black culture and being dismissive of any backlash from African-American artists.”  And well, her mentor and professional partner T.I. has had enough. He told New York’s Hot 97 that’s he breaking things off with Iggy professionally because he’s sick of defending her polarizing and outspoken views. Just a refresher — T.I. executive produced Iggy’s 2012 EP Glory and signed her to his Grand Hustle Records. She left Interscope for Island Def Jam in 2013 after drama between the label and her management deal with T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint
Poor Iggy doesn’t seem to think there is any issue between her and T.I. She went on Twitter and said, “Here’s the deal I am still signed to @tip and do business with him. The first I’ve heard of us having “an issue” is via a radio a radio interview. Personally, I don’t think the radio is the place to talk about your personal issues with someone thats (sic)  part of your team…He seems to think there is nothing wrong with what he said, everyone else seems to disagree. I’m sure tip will publicly clarify what he meant when he feels he has the right platform to do so and other than that, I’m chillin’.”
But T.I. was pretty clear during his interview that he was finished defending — and working with — Iggy. “In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time. Any human being anywhere (is going to) have a hard time adjusting,” T.I. said. “It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes and to be directed, like, be the direction of all the negativity, you know what I mean? It came at a time when culturally in this nation – when she’s not from here – we were actually looking for a source to place that pent-up aggression.”
So what’s next for Iggy? T.I. thinks she has the talent and charisma to move on without him and still be a success. Guess Iggy just needs to come to terms with fact that she needs to find a new mentor!
